What this service is
govt.fyi turns public government records into readable pages: what bills do, where they are, who funds and lobbies the people deciding them, and what happens after laws pass. It is an information service built on public records.
What it is not
Your account
One account per person, signed in by your own phone number. Do not use the service to harass anyone, to scrape at volumes that degrade it for others, or to misrepresent our data as saying things it does not say. We can suspend accounts that do. You can delete your account anytime from your account page.
The data
Government records are public and remain public here; nothing we do changes your right to get them from their official sources, which we link on every page. Our arrangements, summaries, plain-language renderings, and derived datasets are ours. Personal, civic, journalistic, and research reuse with attribution to govt.fyi is welcome. Republishing or redistributing our derived data at scale, or building a commercial product on it, requires our written permission until our data products launch with their own terms.
Automated access
Search engines and reasonable automated reading are fine; this site exists to be found and read. Bulk collection that degrades the service for others, evades technical limits, or replicates our derived datasets wholesale is not permitted. If you need the data in bulk for civic or research work, join the waitlist on our landing page and say so; a structured way to reach us launches alongside email delivery, and the honest answer will usually be yes.
Changes
If these terms change materially, the effective date above changes and signed-in users see a notice before the change binds them. Disputes: New York law, New York venue.
