What we collect, and why

Your phone number, if you sign inUsed once to text you a sign-in code and then to recognize your account. Never shown publicly, never used for marketing texts, never sold or shared for advertising.

Your settings, if you make themWhere you live (borough or region), who you are (resident, business, journalist), your topics, your language, and the bills you follow. Stored so the app can be about you; synced to your account only after you sign in. A place you pick without signing in lives only for that browser session and is gone when you close it.

Ordinary technical logs at our hostThe site is served by Google Firebase Hosting, which keeps standard access logs (the address and pages a browser requests) to run and protect the service. We do not use those logs to profile you, and we add no logging of our own.

Nothing elseNo cookies of our own, no analytics trackers, no advertising pixels, no fingerprinting, no selling of anything. If this ever changes, this page changes first and says so plainly.

Where it lives

If you never sign in, your settings live only in your own browser (localStorage) and never reach our servers. If you sign in, your settings and follows are stored in our database (Google Firebase, United States), readable and writable only by your account. Security rules enforcing that are part of our public code.

Deleting your data

Your account page has a delete button. It removes your account and your synced data outright; it is not a deactivation. Data in your own browser you can clear anytime from the same page.

The public data on this site

Everything else on this site is public government records: bills, votes, lobbying filings, campaign finance, contracts. That data is about public life, not about you, and every page cites its source. Where records name individuals (a campaign donor’s employer, a lobbyist’s client), we present them exactly as the public record states them, with the record’s own limits noted.
