An Act to create 26.145 (2m) of the statutes; relating to: fire suppression products derived from soybeans. Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau Under current law, the Department of Natural Resources administers a program to award grants for up to 50 percent of the cost of acquiring supplies, equipment, and training related to suppressing forest fires. DNR promulgates rules establishing criteria and procedures for awarding grants under the program and establishing eligible costs. This bill provides that the purchase of a product derived from soybeans to be used as a fire suppression material is an eligible cost for grants under the program. The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows: Section 1. 26.145 (2m) of the statutes is created to read: 26.145 (2m) Fire suppression products derived from soybeans. The purchase of a product derived from soybeans to be used as a fire suppression material is an eligible cost for grants under this section. (end)
