An Act to create 23.15 (1m) of the statutes; relating to: the sale of property under Department of Natural Resources jurisdiction to prevent the spread of avian flu. Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau Under current law, the Natural Resources Board may sell lands and structures owned by the state that are under the jurisdiction of the Department of Natural Resources when the board determines that the lands are no longer necessary for the state’s use for conservation purposes. This bill authorizes the board to also sell such lands that are adjacent to or within one mile of a commercial egg farm to prevent the spread of avian flu. The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows: Section 1. 23.15 (1m) of the statutes is created to read: 23.15 (1m) Notwithstanding sub. (1), the natural resources board may sell lands that are owned by the state under the jurisdiction of the department of natural resources and that are adjacent to or within one mile of a commercial egg farm to prevent the spread of avian flu.
