CHAPTER 344 An Act to amend and reenact § 54.1-3805.3 of the Code of Virginia, relating to Board of Veterinary Medicine; traineeships. [S 331] Approved April 6, 2026 Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia: 1. That § 54.1-3805.3 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows: § 54.1-3805.3. Traineeships. The Board may provide for the limited practice of veterinary medicine, as that term is defined by the Board, by a veterinary medicine licensure applicant enrolled in a traineeship program under the direct supervision of a licensed veterinarian. Veterinarians who are eligible to participate in limited practice in a traineeship include: 1. Graduates of an American Veterinary Medical Association-accredited college of veterinary medicine who have not yet passed the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE); and 2. Registrants in the Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates (ECFVG) program who have taken and received a passing score on the NAVLE and have completed all steps of the ECFVG program except for the clinical proficiency examination.
