CHAPTER 666
An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding in Chapter 5 of Title 35.1 a section numbered 35.1-29, relating to hotel policies; denial of guests residing within certain distance prohibited in certain instances.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Chapter 5 of Title 35.1 a section numbered 35.1-29 as follows:
§ 35.1-29. Certain enforcement of policies prohibited.
A. No hotel shall enforce a policy denying the ability of a guest to stay at such hotel solely on the grounds that such guest's primary residence is located within a certain distance of such hotel if such guest is seeking to stay for his health or safety.
B. The provisions of this section shall not preclude a hotel from adopting policies to protect the health and safety of its guests or employees or for other legitimate business purposes provided such policies are in accordance with the Virginia Human Rights Act (§ 2.2-3900 et seq.).
