This section would push back the date on which the surveillance authorities under title VII of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 are set to expire. Under current law, Section 403(b) of the FISA Amendments Act of 2008 (Public Law 110-261) sets that expiration (repeal) date as April 30, 2026, in both the provision noted at 50 U.S.C. 1881 and the related provision noted at 18 U.S.C. 2511. This section would change both of those dates to June 12, 2026, so the title VII authorities would remain in effect through June 12, 2026 instead of ending on April 30, 2026. This section's own changes would take effect on whichever comes first: the date this Act is enacted, or April 29, 2026.
