1. Short title This Act may be cited as the Supporting Older Foster Youth Act .
2: Increase in funding
This section would amend Section 477(h)(1) of the Social Security Act, which authorizes federal funding for the John H. Chafee Foster Care Program for Successful Transition to Adulthood. It would remove the current authorized funding amounts, which were $140,000,000, or $143,000,000 beginning in fiscal year 2020, and replace them with a single authorized amount of $163,000,000 for each fiscal year.

2. Increase in funding Section 477(h)(1) of the Social Security Act ( 42 U.S.C. 677(h)(1) ) is amended by striking $140,000,000 or, beginning in fiscal year 2020, $143,000,000 and inserting $163,000,000 for each fiscal year .
3: Effective date
This section would make the funding change made by section 2 take effect on October 1, 2026.
