3: The Dalles conveyance

This section would require the Secretary to convey certain federal land to the City if the City submits a written request for it within 1 year after the Act becomes law; once that request is made, the Secretary would have to convey all of the United States' right, title, and interest in the land as soon as practicable. The land is a parcel of about 150 acres of National Forest System land in the Mount Hood National Forest in Oregon, shown as parcel A on a map titled "The Dalles Conveyance Parcel A" and dated November 4, 2024. The Secretary could correct minor errors in the map, and a copy of the map would have to be kept on file and available for public inspection at the appropriate Forest Service offices. The exact acreage and legal description of the land to be conveyed would be determined by a survey acceptable to the Secretary. The conveyance would be subject to valid existing rights, made without any payment from the City, made by quitclaim deed, and subject to any additional terms and conditions the Secretary decides are appropriate to protect the interests of the United States. As a condition of receiving the land, the City would have to pay all costs associated with the conveyance, including the cost of the survey.
