Algorithmic Accountability Act of 2025

The bill directs the Federal Trade Commission to write rules requiring large companies that use certain algorithms to make or influence major decisions, like hiring, housing, credit, healthcare, or education, to study those algorithms for bias and other harms before and after using them. Companies must report findings to the FTC yearly and try to fix serious negative effects on people. The FTC must publish a public repository summarizing these reports. Violations count as unfair trade practices, and state attorneys general may also sue to enforce the rules.
