1. Short title This Act may be cited as River’s Law .
2Safety requirements for child care providers
This section would amend the health and safety standards that state plans must set for child care providers under section 658E(c)(2)(I) of the Child Care and Development Block Grant Act of 1990 (42 U.S.C. 9858c(c)(2)(I)). It would add a new requirement that those standards must include a prohibition on constructing, maintaining, or otherwise operating a pool on the premises of any facility where child care services are provided, and a requirement that such a facility install door and window alarms. Both of these requirements would apply together. A provision that currently comes right after the existing list of standards would be renumbered to make room for this new requirement, but this bill would not change that provision's own content.

2. Safety requirements for child care providers Section 658E(c)(2)(I) of the Child Care and Development Block Grant Act of 1990 ( 42 U.S.C. 9858c(c)(2)(I) ) is amended— (1) in clause (i)(XI), by striking ; and and inserting a semicolon; (2) by redesignating clause (ii) as clause (iii); and (3) by inserting after clause (i) the following: (ii) shall include— (I) a prohibition on constructing, maintaining, or otherwise operating a pool on the premises of any facility where such services are provided; and (II) a requirement to install door and window alarms in any facility where such services are provided; and .
