1. Short title This Act may be cited as the Focused Assistance and Skills Training for Veterans’ Employment and Transition Success Act or the FAST VETS Act .
2Conditions under which Secretary of Veterans Affairs shall redevelop individualized vocational rehabilitation plan
This section would amend subsection (b) of section 3107 of title 38, United States Code. It would relabel that subsection's existing first sentence, which requires the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to review, as paragraph (1), without changing what that sentence requires. It would also remove the subsection's current second sentence; the bill's text does not include the wording of that sentence, so this rendering cannot state what requirement it removes. It would then add a new paragraph (2) providing that, based on the review described in paragraph (1), the Secretary shall do one of two things. First, the Secretary shall redevelop the veteran's individualized vocational rehabilitation plan together with the veteran if the Secretary determines both that achieving the veteran's long-range rehabilitation goals is no longer feasible because of changes in the veteran's employment handicap, and that those goals are more likely to be achieved under a different plan formulated under subsection (a). Second, the Secretary shall decide against redeveloping the plan if the Secretary determines that redevelopment is not appropriate.
