Adams Memorial-Great American Heroes Act

This section would let the Act be called the Adams Memorial-Great American Heroes Act.

This section would make changes in three areas involving the Adams Memorial. Subsection (a) would amend section 2406 of the John D. Dingell, Jr. Conservation, Management, and Recreation Act (Public Law 116-9). It would extend the authority set out in subsection (l) of that section, which is currently set to run out in 2025, so that it instead runs out in 2032. It would also add a new subsection (n) to section 2406 authorizing $50,000,000 to be appropriated, notwithstanding any other provision of law, to carry out the purposes of that section, subject to two limits: any federal funds provided under the section must be matched on a 1-to-1 basis by non-federal contributions, and no more than 4 percent of the federal funds may be used for administrative expenses. Subsection (b) would amend section 1(c) of Public Law 107-62 (a provision on compliance with standards for commemorative works). It would insert the words "Notwithstanding section 8908(c) of title 40, United States Code," before the existing reference to "the establishment" of the commemorative work, meaning that section of title 40 would no longer apply to the establishment of the work. It would also change the year 2025 referenced in that same provision to 2032. Subsection (c) would amend section 2 of Public Law 107-315 (a provision on the location of the commemorative work). It would restructure the existing text on where the work may be located into a new subsection (a), which would apply except as provided in a new subsection (b). It would add that new subsection (b), stating that the commemorative work may also be located within the area shown as "Adams Memorial: Eligible Additional Area" on a map of that title, prepared by the Adams Memorial Commission and dated February 25, 2025.
