1. Short title This Act may be cited as the NICS Data Reporting Act .
2: NICS report
This section would require the Attorney General to submit a report to the Senate Committee on the Judiciary and the House Committee on the Judiciary no later than 1 year after this Act becomes law, and then once every year after that. Each report would cover the year before it and would include demographic data on people who were found ineligible to buy a firearm because of a background check run through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). The demographic data would include race, ethnicity, national origin, sex, gender, age, disability, average annual income, and English language proficiency, whenever that information is available.

2. NICS report Not later than 1 year after the date of enactment of this Act, and annually thereafter, the Attorney General shall submit to the Committee on the Judiciary of the Senate and the Committee on the Judiciary of the House of Representatives a report that includes, with respect to the preceding year, the demographic data of persons who were determined to be ineligible to purchase a firearm based on a background check performed by the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, including race, ethnicity, national origin, sex, gender, age, disability, average annual income, and English language proficiency, if available.
