1: Extension of legislative authority for memorial establishment

This section would amend section 1(b) of Public Law 115-275, the law that gave the National Emergency Medical Services Memorial Foundation authority to establish a commemorative work in the District of Columbia and its surrounding area. Section 8903(e), referenced in that law, sets a seven-year period after which authority to establish a commemorative work expires unless extended. This section would provide that, for the Foundation's memorial, any reference in section 8903(e) to the seven-year period expiring, or to an extension beyond that seven-year period, would instead be treated as a reference to an expiration on, or extension beyond, November 3, 2032. In effect, this section would give the Foundation until November 3, 2032 to complete the steps needed to establish the memorial, replacing the standard seven-year deadline with that fixed date.
