Commission To Study the Potential of a National Museum of Italian American History and Culture Act

The bill creates an 8-member commission, appointed by congressional leaders, to study whether the federal government should build a National Museum of Italian American History and Culture in Washington, D.C. Within 18 months of its first meeting, the commission must report on the museum's cost, potential site, and whether it could join the Smithsonian Institution, and must draft a fundraising plan so the museum would not depend on federal money. No federal funds may pay for the commission's work, and it must dissolve 30 days after submitting its final reports.
