1. Short title
This Act may be cited as the Utah Wildfire Research Institute Act of 2025 .
2Additional Institute
This section would amend the Southwest Forest Health and Wildfire Prevention Act of 2004 to add the State of Utah to the list of states in section 5(b)(2) of that 2004 Act, the provision that requires an institute to be established in each listed state. Utah would be added as a new, fourth state on that list, alongside the states already named there, so that an additional institute would be established for Utah under the 2004 Act. This section would also update a related list of states in section 5(e)(1) of the 2004 Act, which already names Colorado, so that it also names Utah alongside Colorado, keeping that second list consistent with the new institute for Utah.

2. Additional Institute
(a) In general
Section 5(b)(2) of the Southwest Forest Health and Wildfire Prevention Act of 2004 ( 16 U.S.C. 6704(b)(2) ) is amended—
(1) in subparagraph (B), by striking and at the end;
(2) in subparagraph (C), by striking the period at the end and inserting ; and ; and
(3) by adding at the end the following:
(D) the State of Utah.

Section 5(e)(1) of the Southwest Forest Health and Wildfire Prevention Act of 2004 ( 16 U.S.C. 6704(e)(1) ) is amended by striking and Colorado and inserting Colorado, and Utah .
