H.B. No. 2513

AN ACT

relating to a paid leave of absence for public employees serving as

fire protection personnel who are engaged in certain military

service.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:

SECTION 1. Section 437.202, Government Code, is amended by

adding Subsection (a-2) to read as follows:

(a-2) For purposes of calculating the payment amount for a

paid leave of absence from duties in a fiscal year for a person

described by Subsection (a) who is classified as fire protection

personnel, as defined by Section 419.021, a 24-hour or 48-hour work

shift constitutes one workday.

SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
