Lawson Date Introduced: May 22, 2026 Referred To: Senate Finance 1 WHEREAS, The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Eat Well, Be Well 2 Rewards Program is the first statewide program of its kind in the country; and 3 WHEREAS, The Eat Well, Be Well Rewards Program provides approximately 90,000 4 Rhode Island households with up to $25 a month in additional benefits to purchase fruits and 5 vegetables; and 6 WHEREAS, The Eat Well, Be Well Rewards Program is a vital safety net for the 7 approximately 144,000 SNAP recipients struggling with food insecurity and access to healthy, 8 nutritious foods; and 9 WHEREAS, The Eat Well, Be Well Rewards Program increases the amount of nutritious 10 foods on the tables of our most vulnerable neighbors; now, therefore be it 11 RESOLVED, That there is hereby appropriated, out of any money in the treasury not 12 otherwise appropriated for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2027, the sum of four million eight 13 hundred thousand dollars ($4,800,000) to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Eat 14 Well, Be Well Rewards Program; and the state controller is hereby authorized and directed to 15 draw their orders upon the general treasurer for the payment of said sum, upon receipt of properly 16 authenticated vouchers. ======== LC006521 ======== EXPLANATION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF J O I N T R E S O L U T I O N MAKING AN APPROPRIATION OF $4,800,000 TO THE SUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (SNAP) EAT WELL, BE WELL REWARDS PROGRAM *** 1 This resolution would authorize the appropriation of the sum of $4,800,000 to the 2 Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Eat Well, Be Well Rewards Program. ======== LC006521 ======== LC006521 - Page 2 of 2
