S3248 2026 -- S 3248 ======== LC006243 ======== STATE OF RHODE ISLAND IN GENERAL ASSEMBLY JANUARY SESSION, A.D. 2026 ____________ S E N A T E R E S O L U T I O N PROCLAIMING THE FIRST SATURDAY IN MAY AS RHODE ISLAND LABYRINTH DAY AND RECOGNIZING MAY 2, 2026, AS WORLD LABYRINTH DAY IN THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND Introduced By: Senators Felag, Lawson, Gu, LaMountain, Urso, Appollonio, Murray, Dimitri, Burke, and Ciccone Date Introduced: May 05, 2026 Referred To: Recommended for Immediate Consideration 1 WHEREAS, World Labyrinth Day is held annually on the first Saturday in May, and 2 May 2, 2026, marks this international celebration of an ancient tradition that continues to meet 3 contemporary needs for rituals of self-care supporting physical, spiritual, and behavioral health; 4 and 5 WHEREAS, Labyrinths have been used for centuries across cultures as pathways for 6 walking meditation, reflection, and mindfulness, offering individuals a simple yet powerful way 7 to restore balance, cultivate inner peace, and enhance overall well-being; and 8 WHEREAS, Civic, social, and personal stresses have given rise across the nation to 9 increased levels of anxiety, loneliness, grief, depression, and environmental detachment, 10 highlighting the importance of accessible, restorative, and community-centered practices; and 11 WHEREAS, More than two dozen walking meditation labyrinths exist across the Ocean 12 State, offering welcoming and inclusive public spaces for reflection, mindfulness, and meaningful 13 community and environmental connection; and 14 WHEREAS, World Labyrinth Day promotes a global Wave of Peace, inviting people 15 around the world to Walk as One at 1:00 p.m., creating a moving meditation for unity, 16 harmony, and hope; now, therefore be it 17 RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby proclaims the first 18 Saturday in May as Rhode Island Labyrinth Day ; and be it further 19 RESOLVED, That this Senate hereby recognizes May 2, 2026, as World Labyrinth 1 Day in the State of Rhode Island; and be it further 2 RESOLVED, That this Senate encourages all Rhode Islanders to visit a labyrinth, to join 3 others in the reflective Wave of Peace, to Walk as One at 1:00 p.m., and to experience the 4 many physical, emotional, and spiritual benefits of this uplifting practice; and be it further 5 RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to 6 transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to representatives of Rhode Island s labyrinth 7 organizations and Tom Flanagan of Blue Skies Rhode Island. ======== LC006243 ======== LC006243 - Page 2 of 2
