S3051 2026 -- S 3051 ======== LC006004 ======== STATE OF RHODE ISLAND IN GENERAL ASSEMBLY JANUARY SESSION, A.D. 2026 ____________ A N A C T AUTHORIZING THE FORMATION OF A REGIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT EMBRACING THE TOWNS OF FOSTER AND GLOCESTER Introduced By: Senators de la Cruz, and Rogers Date Introduced: March 06, 2026 Referred To: Senate Housing & Municipal Government It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: 1 SECTION 1. Paragraph 1 of Section 8 of Chapter 109 of the 1958 Public Laws entitled 2 An Act Authorizing the Formation of a Regional School District Embracing the Towns of Foster 3 and Gloucester is hereby amended to read as follows: 4 The regional school district financial meeting shall be held on March 24, 1998 March 24, 5 2026 at 8:00p.m. 7:00p.m. at the regional school building, or other such location as the regional 6 school committee may publicly designate in advance. Beginning in 1999 2027 , the regional school 7 district financial town meeting will be held on the third Tuesday in March each year. Special 8 meetings may be called by vote of the regional district school on accordance with conditions 9 governing town meetings generally prescribed by state law. All voters qualified at the financial 10 town meeting next preceeding preceding such regional school district financial meeting and the 11 respective towns of Foster and Glocester shall be eligible to attend and vote at the regional district 12 school financial meeting. 13 SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. ======== LC006004 ======== EXPLANATION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF A N A C T AUTHORIZING THE FORMATION OF A REGIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT EMBRACING THE TOWNS OF FOSTER AND GLOCESTER *** 1 This act would change the date of the regional school district financial meeting for the 2 Foster-Glocester regional school district to March 24, 2026. 3 This act would take effect upon passage. ======== LC006004 ======== LC006004 - Page 2 of 2
