S2838 2026 -- S 2838 ======== LC004959 ======== STATE OF RHODE ISLAND IN GENERAL ASSEMBLY JANUARY SESSION, A.D. 2026 ____________ A N A C T RELATING TO HOLIDAYS AND DAYS OF SPECIAL OBSERVANCE-- DAYS OF SPECIAL OBSERVANCE Introduced By: Senator David P. Tikoian Date Introduced: March 04, 2026 Referred To: Senate Special Legislation and Veterans Affairs (Adm/Office of Healthy Aging (OHA)) It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: 1 SECTION 1. Chapter 25-2 of the General Laws entitled Days of Special Observance is 2 hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: 3 25-2-62. Rhode Island senior center month. 4 The month of September in each and every year shall be set aside as a month to be known 5 as Rhode Island Senior Center Month. Rhode Island senior centers act as catalysts for mobilizing 6 the creativity, energy, vitality, and commitment of older residents to the State of Rhode Island. This 7 month shall be observed by the people of this state with appropriate exercises in public places. 8 SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. ======== LC004959 ======== EXPLANATION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF A N A C T RELATING TO HOLIDAYS AND DAYS OF SPECIAL OBSERVANCE-- DAYS OF SPECIAL OBSERVANCE *** 1 This act would provide that the month of September in each year be designated Rhode 2 Island Senior Center Month with appropriate exercises in public places. 3 This act would take effect upon passage. ======== LC004959 ======== LC004959 - Page 2 of 2
