S2745 2026 -- S 2745 ======== LC005332 ======== STATE OF RHODE ISLAND IN GENERAL ASSEMBLY JANUARY SESSION, A.D. 2026 ____________ A N A C T RELATING TO GENERAL ASSEMBLY -- PERMANENT JOINT COMMITTEE ON NAMING ALL NEW BUILDINGS, BRIDGES, EDIFICES AND OTHER STATE CONSTRUCTIONS Introduced By: Senators de la Cruz, DiMario, Lauria, and Rogers Date Introduced: February 27, 2026 Referred To: Senate Special Legislation and Veterans Affairs (by request) It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: 1 SECTION 1. Chapter 22-7.4 of the General Laws entitled Permanent Joint Committee on 2 Naming All New Buildings, Bridges, Edifices and Other State Constructions is hereby amended 3 by adding thereto the following section: 4 22-7.4-160. Joseph M. Lima Overpass. 5 The India Point Park Overpass pedestrian bridge spanning the highway in the City of 6 Providence shall hereafter be named and known as the Joseph M. Lima Overpass in recognition 7 of his lifetime of selfless public service and his enduring impact on the Fox Point neighborhood 8 and the State of Rhode Island. 9 SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. ======== LC005332 ======== EXPLANATION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF A N A C T RELATING TO GENERAL ASSEMBLY -- PERMANENT JOINT COMMITTEE ON NAMING ALL NEW BUILDINGS, BRIDGES, EDIFICES AND OTHER STATE CONSTRUCTIONS *** 1 This act would name the India Point Park Overpass pedestrian bridge as the Joseph M. 2 Lima Overpass to honor the former Deputy Majority Leader s legislative achievements and his 3 lifelong dedication to the Portuguese-American community. 4 This act would take effect upon passage. ======== LC005332 ======== LC005332 - Page 2 of 2
