S2740 2026 -- S 2740 ======== LC005416 ======== STATE OF RHODE ISLAND IN GENERAL ASSEMBLY JANUARY SESSION, A.D. 2026 ____________ A N A C T RELATING TO LABOR AND LABOR RELATIONS -- MINIMUM WAGES -- HEALTHCARE WORKER OVERTIME PAY Introduced By: Senators Burke, Bissaillon, Thompson, Famiglietti, Patalano, and Raptakis Date Introduced: February 27, 2026 Referred To: Senate Labor & Gaming It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: 1 SECTION 1. Chapter 28-12 of the General Laws entitled Minimum Wages is hereby 2 amended by adding thereto the following section: 3 28-12-4.5. Overtime pay for healthcare professionals. 4 Except as otherwise provided in this chapter, all healthcare workers and all medical direct 5 support professionals who are employed in a healthcare facility, as defined in § 27-18-1.1, on any 6 Sunday or holiday, shall be compensated at the rate of time and one-half. 7 SECTION 2.
