S2458 2026 -- S 2458 ======== LC004830 ======== STATE OF RHODE ISLAND IN GENERAL ASSEMBLY JANUARY SESSION, A.D. 2026 ____________ A N A C T RELATING TO BUSINESSES AND PROFESSIONS -- INTERSTATE MEDICAL LICENSURE COMPACT Introduced By: Senators Appollonio, Murray, E Morgan, LaMountain, Thompson, and Patalano Date Introduced: February 06, 2026 Referred To: Senate Health & Human Services It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: 1 SECTION 1. Chapter 5-91 of the General Laws entitled Interstate Medical Licensure 2 Compact is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: 3 5-91-26. Implementation. 4 This chapter shall be implemented and the state is hereby directed to complete all necessary 5 membership requirements no later than July 1, 2026. 6 SECTION 2. Title 23 of the General Laws entitled HEALTH AND SAFETY is hereby 7 amended by adding thereto the following chapter: 8 CHAPTER 104 9 TELEMEDICINE AND OUT-OF-STATE MEDICINE 10 23-104-1. Telemedicine and out-of-state medicine. 11 (a) All in-state residents shall have access to telemedicine in accordance with chapter 81 12 of title 27. 13 (b) Patients may receive telemedicine services, including services from out-of-state 14 providers pursuant to chapter 91 of title 5 ( interstate medical licensure compact ). 15 (c) The department of health and the office of health insurance commissioner shall 16 implement rules and regulations, as necessary, to carry out the provisions of this section. 1 SECTION 3.
