S2256 2026 -- S 2256 ======== LC004029 ======== STATE OF RHODE ISLAND IN GENERAL ASSEMBLY JANUARY SESSION, A.D. 2026 ____________ A N A C T RELATING TO HUMAN SERVICES -- MEDICAL ASSISTANCE Introduced By: Senators DiMario, Urso, Murray, Thompson, Quezada, Kallman, Lauria, Britto, Mack, Appollonio, and Valverde Date Introduced: January 23, 2026 Referred To: Senate Health & Human Services It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: 1 SECTION 1. Chapter 40-8 of the General Laws entitled Medical Assistance is hereby 2 amended by adding thereto the following section: 3 40-8-33. Licensed independent clinical social workers - Services covered. 4 Notwithstanding any general law, public law, special law, rule or regulation to the contrary, 5 Medicaid reimbursement shall be provided under this chapter for services by licensed independent 6 clinical social workers and those workers shall be entitled to enroll and bill Medicaid fee-for- 7 service directly for authorized and/or covered services provided to adults with Medicaid fee-for- 8 service coverage. The director is hereby directed to develop and promulgate a fee schedule and any 9 necessary rules or regulations required to implement the provisions of this section. 10 SECTION 2.
