S2141 2026 -- S 2141 ======== LC003442 ======== STATE OF RHODE ISLAND IN GENERAL ASSEMBLY JANUARY SESSION, A.D. 2026 ____________ A N A C T RELATING TO COURTS AND CIVIL PROCEDURE -- PROCEDURE GENERALLY -- FEES Introduced By: Senators Zurier, McKenney, Bissaillon, Burke, Quezada, Tikoian, and LaMountain Date Introduced: January 16, 2026 Referred To: Senate Judiciary It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: 1 SECTION 1. Section 9-29-5 of the General Laws in Chapter 9-29 entitled Fees is hereby 2 amended to read as follows: 3 9-29-5. Jurors’ fees. 4 (a) All grand and petit jurors shall be paid for each day’s attendance on the superior court 5 twenty-five dollars ($25.00) fifty dollars ($50.00) per day commencing July 1, 2022 2026 , and 6 thereafter. The general assembly shall annually appropriate such sum as it may deem necessary to 7 carry out the purposes of this section. 8 (b) Any grand or petit juror may, upon signing a form approved by the presiding justice of 9 the superior court, donate their jury fee to the state. Any such donation shall be deposited into the 10 general fund and shall be allocated to the Rhode Island Veterans Home Community Living Center. 11 SECTION 2.
