S2033 2026 -- S 2033 ======== LC003829 ======== STATE OF RHODE ISLAND IN GENERAL ASSEMBLY JANUARY SESSION, A.D. 2026 ____________ A N A C T RELATING TO BUSINESSES AND PROFESSIONS -- PROTECTIONS OF HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS ACT Introduced By: Senators Lauria, Lawson, Euer, Valverde, Kallman, Mack, DiMario, Murray, Pearson, and Bissaillon Date Introduced: January 09, 2026 Referred To: Senate Health & Human Services It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: 1 SECTION 1. Chapter 5-37.8 of the General Laws entitled Protections for Healthcare 2 Providers Act is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: 3 5-37.8-4. Prescriptive protections for providers of legal protected healthcare activity. 4 (a) Notwithstanding any other provision in this chapter to the contrary, the prescription 5 label for medication abortion prescription drugs may include the name of the dispensing healthcare 6 practice instead of the name of the dispenser. 7 (b) For purposes of this section, “medication abortion prescription drugs” means 8 substances used in the course of medical treatment intended to induce the termination of a 9 pregnancy including, but not limited to, mifepristone and misoprostol. 10 SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. ======== LC003829 ======== EXPLANATION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF A N A C T RELATING TO BUSINESSES AND PROFESSIONS -- PROTECTIONS OF HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS ACT *** 1 This act would provide that the prescription label for medication abortion prescription 2 drugs may include the name of the dispensing healthcare practice instead of the name of the 3 dispenser. 4 This act would take effect upon passage. ======== LC003829 ======== LC003829 - Page 2 of 2
