S2002 2026 -- S 2002 ======== LC003677 ======== STATE OF RHODE ISLAND IN GENERAL ASSEMBLY JANUARY SESSION, A.D. 2026 ____________ S E N A T E R E S O L U T I O N EXTENDING THE REPORTING AND EXPIRATION DATES OF THE SPECIAL COMMISSION TO MAKE A COMPREHENSIVE STUDY OF RHODE ISLAND S HEALTHCARE WORKFORCE RELATED TO EDUCATING AND RETAINING PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIANS AND ESTABLISHING A STATE MEDICAL SCHOOL AT THE UNIVERSITY OF RHODE ISLAND Introduced By: Senators Lauria, DiMario, Sosnowski, and Lawson Date Introduced: January 07, 2026 Referred To: Placed on the Senate Consent Calendar 1 RESOLVED, That the special legislative commission created by resolution No. 385 2 passed by the Senate at its January session, A.D. 2024, and approved June 13, 2024, entitled 3 Senate Resolution Creating a Special Legislative Commission To Make a Comprehensive Study 4 of Rhode Island s Healthcare Workforce Related to Educating and Retaining Primary Care 5 Physicians and Establishing a State Medical School at the University of Rhode Island is hereby 6 authorized to continue its study and make a report to the Senate on or before March 1, 2026, and 7 said commission shall expire on June 30, 2026; and be it further 8 RESOLVED, That the time for reporting authorized by resolution No. 385 passed by the 9 Senate at its January session, A.D. 2024, and approved June 13, 2024, be and the same is hereby 10 rescinded. ======== LC003677 ======== EXPLANATION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF S E N A T E R E S O L U T I O N EXTENDING THE REPORTING AND EXPIRATION DATES OF THE SPECIAL COMMISSION TO MAKE A COMPREHENSIVE STUDY OF RHODE ISLAND S HEALTHCARE WORKFORCE RELATED TO EDUCATING AND RETAINING PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIANS AND ESTABLISHING A STATE MEDICAL SCHOOL AT THE UNIVERSITY OF RHODE ISLAND *** 1 This resolution would extend the reporting and expiration dates of the special legislative 2 commission to study Rhode Island s Healthcare Workforce Related to Educating and Retaining 3 Primary Care Physicians and Establishing a State Medical School at the University of Rhode 4 Island from January 2, 2026, to March 1, 2026, and said commission would expire on June 30, 5 2026. ======== LC003677 ======== LC003677 - Page 2 of 2
