CASIMIRO FOR HER DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND Introduced By: Representatives Blazejewski, Kazarian, Alzate, Chippendale, Corvese, Fogarty, Donovan, Spears, Knight, and McGaw Date Introduced: June 11, 2026 Referred To: House read and passed 1 WHEREAS, The Honorable Julie A. Casimiro was first elected to the Rhode Island 2 House of Representatives in November of 2016, to serve the residents of District 31 in North 3 Kingstown and Exeter with integrity, compassion, and distinction; and 4 WHEREAS, In recognition of her strong leadership and commitment to public service, 5 Representative Casimiro was appointed Deputy Majority Leader in January of 2019, and served 6 as First Vice Chair of the House Committee on Oversight, Chair of the House Oversight Children 7 and Families Subcommittee, and as a member of the House Education Committee, the House 8 Judiciary Committee, and the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee; and 9 WHEREAS, Throughout her tenure in the General Assembly, Representative Casimiro 10 has been a tireless advocate for children, families, students, veterans, consumers, and vulnerable 11 Rhode Islanders, championing legislation to strengthen protections, improve public policy, and 12 enhance quality of life throughout the State; and 13 WHEREAS, During the 2025 legislative session, Representative Casimiro secured 14 passage of legislation requiring Rhode Island schools to establish policies governing student use 15 of personal electronic devices during the school day, while also sponsoring legislation protecting 16 Rhode Islanders from cryptocurrency ATM scams; and 17 WHEREAS, Representative Casimiro was selected to the National Conference of State 18 Legislatures’ 2025 Youth Justice Fellows Program, joining a distinguished national network of 19 lawmakers committed to advancing effective youth justice policy and reform; and 1 WHEREAS, In 2024, Representative Casimiro introduced legislation supporting student 2 participation in Individualized Education Program, physical education classes, requiring 3 searchable healthcare facility price lists, and protecting workers by prohibiting contractors and 4 subcontractors from substituting cash payments for required health care benefits; and 5 WHEREAS, In 2024, Representative Casimiro was also recognized by Adoption Rhode 6 Island for her dedication to children in state care and by the Rhode Island Pharmacists 7 Association for her efforts to address shortages in primary care health services; and 8 WHEREAS, During the 2023 legislative session, Representative Casimiro introduced 9 legislation requiring gift card scam warnings in retail stores and requiring driver education 10 programs to include instruction on the dangers of driving under the influence of cannabis; and 11 WHEREAS, Representative Casimiro was selected to serve as Vice Chairwoman of the 12 National Conference of State Legislatures Standing Committee on Children, Families and Human 13 Services, and was honored by Tides Family Services with its “Humanitarian Award” in 14 recognition of her support for strengthening behavioral health services for children throughout 15 Rhode Island; and 16 WHEREAS, In 2022, Representative Casimiro introduced legislation closing loopholes 17 involving individuals in positions of authority engaging in sexual relations with minors, and 18 sponsored legislation requiring the Department of Children, Youth and Families to identify the 19 military status of parents involved in child abuse cases and notify appropriate military authorities, 20 including the Military Family Advocacy Program; and 21 WHEREAS, Representative Casimiro was recognized by the Rhode Island Coalition for 22 Children and Families as its 2022 Legislative Champion for her advocacy and commitment to 23 protecting children and supporting families across the State; and 24 WHEREAS, Prior to her legislative service, she built a successful career as a marketing 25 executive and fund development professional while contributing her time and expertise to 26 numerous nonprofit boards and community organizations; and 27 WHEREAS, A graduate of Cranston High School West and Providence College, 28 Representative Casimiro earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing and has utilized her education, 29 experience, and compassion to become a highly respected leader and public servant; and 30 WHEREAS, Representative Casimiro and her husband, Richard Casimiro, reside in 31 North Kingstown, and as she enters a well-earned retirement, she leaves behind a legacy of 32 compassion, integrity, and steadfast commitment that will be greatly missed in the House 33 Chambers; now, therefore be it 34 RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby LC006447 - Page 2 of 3 1 honors Representative Julie A. Casimiro for her many years of distinguished service to the people 2 of the State of Rhode Island and expresses its sincere gratitude for her outstanding leadership and 3 commitment to public service; and be it further 4 RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to 5 transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable Julie A.
