H8517 2026 -- H 8517 ======== LC006166 ======== STATE OF RHODE ISLAND IN GENERAL ASSEMBLY JANUARY SESSION, A.D. 2026 ____________ H O U S E R E S O L U T I O N CONGRATULATING THE ELEANOR SLATER HOSPITAL--ZAMBARANO CAMPUS ON THE RECOGNITION OF ZAMBARANO DAY ON MAY 5, 2026 Introduced By: Representatives Place, Newberry, Shekarchi, Blazejewski, Chippendale, Felix, Hull, Hopkins, Ajello, and Fellela Date Introduced: May 05, 2026 Referred To: House read and passed 1 WHEREAS, Since 1995, the Eleanor Slater Hospital-Zambarano campus has been 2 serving the citizens of the State of Rhode Island. It was previously called the Dr. U. E. 3 Zambarano Hospital in tribute to its superintendent. Since its inception, the Eleanor Slater 4 Hospital-Zambarano campus has provided crucial health care for many Rhode Islanders; and 5 WHEREAS, This facility delivers compassionate health care services to those Rhode 6 Islanders who are in greatest need, including those with acute breathing problems, severe wounds, 7 infectious diseases, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries and other acute conditions which 8 require a longer hospitalization. The hospital also serves geriatric patients who require more 9 medical and clinical resources than other post-acute providers can provide; and 10 WHEREAS, Eleanor Slater Hospital-Zambarano campus serves as a model for long-term 11 acute care facilities; and 12 WHEREAS, Since its first meeting on May 18, 1979, the patients have been involved in 13 an organized group, “Patients for Progress” dedicated to promoting superior care for all 14 individuals at our State hospitals; and 15 WHEREAS, The staff at Eleanor Slater Hospital-Zambarano campus work tirelessly to 16 ensure a high quality for all patients and their families as they also begin the planning of a new 17 state-of-the-art facility on the Zambarano campus; now, therefore be it 18 RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby 19 recognizes “Zambarano Day” on May 5, 2026, and extends its sincere congratulations to the staff 1 of the Eleanor Slater Hospital-Zambarano campus and expresses its deep appreciation for the 2 continuation of their laudable efforts on behalf of all long-term acute care patients; and be it 3 further 4 RESOLVED, That this House hereby declares its continuing support to ensure the 5 Eleanor Slater Hospital-Zambarano campus remains an exemplary long-term acute care hospital 6 for the benefit of all Rhode Islanders; and be it further 7 RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to 8 transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the staff of the Eleanor Slater Hospital- 9 Zambarano campus. ======== LC006166 ======== LC006166 - Page 2 of 2
