H8321 2026 -- H 8321 ======== LC006157 ======== STATE OF RHODE ISLAND IN GENERAL ASSEMBLY JANUARY SESSION, A.D. 2026 ____________ H O U S E R E S O L U T I O N HONORING AND CONGRATULATING BRIANNA VEGA, MISS RHODE ISLAND USA, FOR HER OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS, LEADERSHIP, AND PROUD REPRESENTATION OF THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND Introduced By: Representatives Diaz, Shekarchi, Blazejewski, Chippendale, Paplauskas, Stewart, Cruz, Alzate, Kennedy, and Azzinaro Date Introduced: March 19, 2026 Referred To: House read and passed 1 WHEREAS, Brianna Vega was born and raised in the City of Providence, Rhode Island, 2 and is the proud daughter of Dominican immigrant parents and the granddaughter of women who 3 came to the United States in search of greater opportunities for their families; and 4 WHEREAS, The courage, sacrifice, and perseverance of her family instilled in her a deep 5 pride in her Dominican heritage and a lifelong commitment to uplifting her community; and 6 WHEREAS, Ms. Vega graduated from Classical High School in 2014 and continued her 7 education at the University of Rhode Island, where she earned a degree in Nursing; and 8 WHEREAS, She began her career as a Registered Nurse serving the community in which 9 she was raised, the City of Providence, and now specializes in Obstetrics and Gynecology, where 10 she is dedicated to supporting and advocating for women throughout their healthcare journeys; 11 and 12 WHEREAS, In addition to her professional work in health care, Brianna Vega is a 13 certified personal trainer who believes in creating safe spaces where individuals feel empowered 14 to pursue healthy lifestyles; and 15 WHEREAS, Ms. Vega is also committed to mentorship and youth empowerment as a 16 volunteer “Big” with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rhode Island, where she works to inspire young 17 people and reinforce the importance of believing in their potential; and 18 WHEREAS, Brianna Vega currently serves as the reigning Miss Rhode Island USA, 19 proudly representing the Ocean State at the Miss USA competition, where she was named a Top 1 20 semifinalist, marking the first placement for Rhode Island in more than a decade; and 2 WHEREAS, Ms. Vega was also one of only three Dominican women to walk the Miss 3 USA stage this year, representing both Rhode Island and the Dominican-American community 4 with immense pride and distinction; now, therefore be it 5 RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby 6 honors and congratulates Brianna Vega, Miss Rhode Island USA, for her achievements, 7 leadership, and commitment to service, and proudly recognizes her as an inspiring role model for 8 young women and communities throughout Rhode Island; and be it further 9 RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to 10 transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Brianna Vega, Miss Rhode Island USA. ======== LC006157 ======== LC006157 - Page 2 of 2
