7   An Act relating to courts; amending 20 O.S. 2021,

7   Section 92i, which relates to candidates for district

8   or associate district judge; modifying certain

8   qualification for candidacy; updating statutory

9   language; and providing an effective date.

12 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

13  SECTION 1.     AMENDATORY   20 O.S. 2021, Section 92i, is

13

14 amended to read as follows:
14

15  Section 92i. To file as a candidate for the office of district

15

16 judge or associate district judge, one must have been a registered
16

17 voter and actual resident of the appropriate county district for at
17

18 least six (6) months prior to the first day of the filing period.
18

19 Should no one file for any such office, and should a vacancy thereby
19

20 created be filled by appointment according to law, there shall be no
20

21 such residency or durational registration requirement imposed on the
21

22 appointee, providing said the appointee is otherwise qualified, nor
22

23 shall any person appointed to fill a vacancy in the office of
23

24 district judge or associate district judge be required to comply

1 with such the residency or durational registration requirement in

2 becoming a candidate for a full term following such an appointment.
2

3 No one who has been removed from judicial office or who has resigned
3

4 from office pending disciplinary proceedings shall qualify to file
4

5 as a candidate for judicial office.

6   SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2025.
