7      An Act relating to teacher preparation; directing the

7      Commission for Educational Quality and Accountability

8      to establish student teaching requirements; defining

8      term; providing for promulgation of rules; providing

9      for codification; providing an effective date; and

9      declaring an emergency.

12 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

13     SECTION 1.  NEW LAW      A new section of law to be codified

13

14 in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 6-187E of Title 70, unless there
14

15 is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
15

16     A. The Commission for Educational Quality and Accountability

16

17 shall establish student teaching requirements for teacher candidates
17

18 who are enrolled in an educator preparation program accredited by
18

19 the Commission. The requirements shall include:
19

20     1. Completion of a minimum number of weeks of field experience;

20

21 or
21

22     2. Completion of a qualified job-embedded, competency-based

22

23 teacher registered apprenticeship program. For the purposes of this
23

24 section, "teacher registered apprenticeship program" means a

1 structured program that combines on-the-job training with academic

2 instruction to prepare individuals to become teachers.

3   B. The Commission shall promulgate rules to implement the

3

4 provisions of this act.
4

5   SECTION 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 2025.

5

6   SECTION 3. It being immediately necessary for the preservation

6

7 of the public peace, health, or safety, an emergency is hereby
7

8 declared to exist, by reason whereof this act shall take effect and
8

9 be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
