7   An Act relating to professions and occupations;

7   amending 59 O.S. 2021, Section 1354, as amended by

8   Section 1, Chapter 66, O.S.L. 2023 (59 O.S. Supp.

8   2024, Section 1354), which relates to the State Board

9   of Examiners of Psychologists; extending sunset date;

9   updating statutory language; providing an effective

10  date; and declaring an emergency.

1 3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

14  SECTION 1.     AMENDATORY  59 O.S. 2021, Section 1354, as

14

1 5 amended by Section 1, Chapter 66, O.S.L. 2023 (59 O.S. Supp. 2024,

15

1 6 Section 1354), is amended to read as follows:

16

17  Section 1354. There is hereby re-created, to continue until

17

1 8 July 1, 2025 July 1, 2026, pursuant to the provisions of the

18

1 9 Oklahoma Sunset Law, the State Board of Examiners of Psychologists.

19

2 0 The Board shall administer the provisions of the Psychologists

20

2 1 Licensing Act. The Board shall consist of seven (7) members

21

2 2 appointed by the Governor. Five members shall be psychologists from

22

2 3 various areas in psychology and two members shall be lay persons.

23

2 4 At the expiration of the term of each Board member who is a

1 psychologist, the Governor shall appoint a successor from a list of

1

2 ten licensed psychologists which is provided by the Oklahoma State

2

3 Psychological Association. Members shall serve for a term of four

3

4 (4) years and until a successor is appointed and qualified. Before

4

5 entering upon the duties of office, each member of the Board shall

5

6 take the constitutional oath of office and file it with the

6

7 Secretary of State.

8   SECTION 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 2025.

8

9   SECTION 3. It being immediately necessary for the preservation

9

1 0 of the public peace, health or safety, an emergency is hereby

10

1 1 declared to exist, by reason whereof this act shall take effect and

11

1 2 be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
