7   An Act relating to schools; defining term; directing

7   school district boards of education to adopt policies

8   prohibiting students from accessing certain

8   platforms, websites, or applications while on school

9   premises; providing for promulgation of rules;

9   providing for codification; providing an effective

10  date; and declaring an emergency.

1 3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

14  SECTION 1.     NEW LAW  A new section of law to be codified

14

1 5 in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 6-402 of Title 70, unless there

15

1 6 is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:

16

17  A. As used in this section, "social networking" or "social

17

1 8 media" means interaction with external websites or services based

18

1 9 upon participant contributions to the content. Types of social

19

2 0 media include social and professional networks, blogs, microblogs,

20

2 1 video or photo sharing, and social bookmarking.

21

22  B. School district boards of education in this state shall

22

2 3 adopt policies prohibiting students from using school computers or

23

2 4 devices or school-issued computers or devices to access social

1 networking or social media platforms, websites, or applications

2 while on school premises.

3   C. The State Board of Education may adopt rules to monitor

3

4 compliance with the provisions of this section.

4

5   SECTION 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 2025.

5

6   SECTION 3. It being immediately necessary for the preservation

6

7 of the public peace, health, or safety, an emergency is hereby

7

8 declared to exist, by reason whereof this act shall take effect and

8

9 be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
