7   An Act relating to agriculture; defining terms;

7   requiring meat products to be labeled with their

8   country of origin for retail purposes; authorizing

8   the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food, and

9   Forestry to promulgate and enforce rules; providing

9   for codification; and providing an effective date.

12 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

13  SECTION 1.       NEW LAW       A new section of law to be codified

13

14 in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 6-216 of Title 2, unless there
14

15 is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
15

16  A. As used in this section:

16

17  1. "Country of origin" means the country where the animal was

17

18 born, raised, and slaughtered;
18

19  2. "Meat" means any part of the carcass or product derived from

19

20 cattle, goats, poultry, sheep, and swine that is sold for human
20

21 consumption; and
21

22  3. "Retail sale" means the sale of meat products to be consumed

22

23 directly by the consumer.

1   B. Any meat product sold at retail within this state shall be

2 labeled with its country of origin.
2

3   C. The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food, and Forestry

3

4 shall promulgate rules to enforce this section, including rules for
4

5 destroying any meat product incorrectly labeled or adulterated.
5

6   D. Any retailer found noncompliant with the provisions of this

6

7 section shall be subject to penalties prescribed by the Department.

8   SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2026.
