7   An Act relating to schools; defining term; requiring

7   public school districts to provide notification

8   regarding participation in certain community

8   eligibility provision; requiring notification to

9   include certain reason; providing for codification;

9   providing an effective date; and declaring an

10  emergency.

13 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

14  SECTION 1.      NEW LAW  A new section of law to be codified

14

15 in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 3-119.2 of Title 70, unless
15

16 there is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
16

17  A. As used in this section, "community eligibility provision"

17

18 means the federal provision created pursuant to 42 U.S.C., Section
18

19 1759a that allows school districts to choose to receive federal
19

20 special assistance payments for school meals in exchange for
20

21 providing free school meals to all students enrolled in all or
21

22 selected school sites within the school district.

23  B. By September 1, 2027, and by September 1 each year

23

24 thereafter, each public school district in this state that is

1 eligible for the United States Department of Agriculture's Community
1

2 Eligibility Provision and chooses not to participate shall notify
2

3 the State Department of Education. The notification shall include
3

4 the reason for not participating.
4

5   SECTION 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 2026.

5

6   SECTION 3. It being immediately necessary for the preservation

6

7 of the public peace, health, or safety, an emergency is hereby
7

8 declared to exist, by reason whereof this act shall take effect and
8

9 be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
