7   An Act relating to public health; amending 63 O.S.

7   2021, Section 1-201, which relates to county board of

8   health; requiring advice and consent of the Senate

8   for certain appointments to county boards of health;

9   and providing an effective date.

12 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

13  SECTION 1.      AMENDATORY  63 O.S. 2021, Section 1-201, is

13

14 amended to read as follows:
14

15  Section 1-201. There is hereby created in each county of the

15

16 state a county board of health, which shall consist of five (5)
16

17 members, who shall serve without compensation, and who shall be
17

18 residents of the county, appointed as follows:
18

19  (a) 1. The State Commissioner of Health shall appoint one

19

20 member, with the advice and consent of the Senate, whose term shall
20

21 expire on June 30, 1964, and each four (4) years thereafter.

22  (b) 2. The State Commissioner of Health shall appoint another

22

23 member, with the advice and consent of the Senate, whose term shall
23

24 expire on June 30, 1965, and each four (4) years thereafter.

1   (c) 3. The judge of the district court shall appoint one

2 member, who shall be the holder of a school administrator's
2

3 certificate issued by the State Board of Education, and whose term
3

4 of office shall expire on June 30, 1966, and each four (4) years
4

5 thereafter.

6   (d) 4. The Board of County Commissioners shall appoint one

6

7 member, who shall be a doctor of medicine, doctor of osteopathy, or,
7

8 if no doctor of medicine or doctor of osteopathy is available, the
8

9 board of county commissioners may appoint a dentist, optometrist, or
9

10 registered nurse. The term of office of such member shall expire on
10

11 June 30, 1967, and each four (4) years thereafter.

12  (e) 5. The board of county commissioners shall appoint another

12

13 member who may be a member of the board of county commissioners, and
13

14 who shall serve at the pleasure of the board of county
14

15 commissioners.

16  SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2026.
