7 An Act relating to the Council on Judicial
7 Complaints; amending 20 O.S. 2021, Section 1653,
8 which relates to membership; prohibiting members of
8 the Council on Judicial Complaints from eligibility
9 for certain offices; and providing an effective date.

12 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

13 SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 20 O.S. 2021, Section 1653, is
13
14 amended to read as follows:
14
15 Section 1653. A. The Council on Judicial Complaints shall
15
16 consist of three (3) members, only two of whom shall be members of
16
17 the Bar of the State of Oklahoma and only two of whom shall
17
18 constitute a quorum. One member shall be appointed by the President
18
19 Pro Tempore of the Senate; one member shall be appointed by the
19
20 Speaker of the House of Representatives; and one member shall be
20
21 appointed by the President of the Oklahoma Bar Association.

22 B. Members of the Council, during their terms of office, shall
22
23 not be eligible for election or appointment to the Judicial
23
24 Nominating Commission, the Supreme Court, the Court of Civil Appeals

1 of the State of Oklahoma, the Court of Criminal Appeals, or any

2 other court in this state.

3 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2026.
