7           An Act relating to alien ownership of land; amending

7           60 O.S. 2021, Section 122, which relates to

8           exceptions; defining terms; modifying exception;

8           updating statutory language; making language gender

9           neutral; and declaring an emergency.

12 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

13  SECTION 1.      AMENDATORY  60 O.S. 2021, Section 122, is

13

14 amended to read as follows:
14

15  Section 122. A. For purposes of this section:

15

16  1. "Bona fide resident" shall mean a lawful permanent resident

16

17 of the United States; and
17

18  2. "Lawful permanent resident" shall mean a foreign national

18

19 who has been granted the right to reside permanently in the United
19

20 States.
20

21  B. This article shall not apply to lands now owned in this

21

22 state by aliens so long as they are held by the present owners, nor
22

23 to any alien who is or shall take up a bona fide residence resident
23

24 in this state:; and any alien who is or shall become a bona fide

1 resident of the State of Oklahoma this state shall have the right to
1

2 acquire and hold lands in this state upon the same terms as citizens
2

3 United States citizen residents of the State of Oklahoma this state
3

4 during the continuance of such bona fide residence of such alien in
4

5 this state:. Provided, that if any such resident alien shall cease
5

6 to be a bona fide inhabitant resident of this state, such alien
6

7 shall have five (5) years from the time he or she ceased to be such
7

8 bona fide resident in which to alienate such lands.

9   SECTION 2. It being immediately necessary for the preservation

9

10 of the public peace, health or safety, an emergency is hereby
10

11 declared to exist, by reason whereof this act shall take effect and
11

12 be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
