7   An Act relating to the courts; amending 20 O.S. 2021,

7   Section 1501, as amended by Section 1, Chapter 61,

8   O.S.L. 2023 (20 O.S. Supp. 2025, Section 1501), which

8   relates to the State Board of Examiners of Certified

9   Shorthand Reporters; extending sunset date; providing

9   an effective date; and declaring an emergency.

12 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

13  SECTION 1.      AMENDATORY  20 O.S. 2021, Section 1501, as

13

14 amended by Section 1, Chapter 61, O.S.L. 2023 (20 O.S. Supp. 2025,
14

15 Section 1501), is amended to read as follows:
15

16  Section 1501. There is hereby re-created, to continue until

16

17 July 1, 2026 July 1, 2036, in accordance with the provisions of the
17

18 Oklahoma Sunset Law, Section 3901 of Title 74 of the Oklahoma
18

19 Statutes, the State Board of Examiners of Certified Shorthand
19

20 Reporters which shall consist of five (5) members, all of whom shall
20

21 be certified shorthand reporters. The members shall be persons who
21

22 have been, for at least five (5) years prior to their appointment to
22

23 the Board, residents of this state and certified shorthand
23

24 reporters. All members shall be appointed by the Chief Justice of

1 the Supreme Court and shall serve in staggered terms, each for a
1

2 period of five (5) years except for the initial appointees. No
2

3 member may serve more than one term in succession. The Board shall
3

4 elect from its membership a chair and a secretary. Three members
4

5 shall constitute a quorum. The Board may adopt a seal for its
5

6 official use. All actions of the Board shall be supervised by the
6

7 Supreme Court and be subject to approval by the Court.

8   SECTION 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 2026.

8

9   SECTION 3. It being immediately necessary for the preservation

9

10 of the public peace, health, or safety, an emergency is hereby
10

11 declared to exist, by reason whereof this act shall take effect and
11

12 be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
