7   An Act relating to professions and occupations;

7   amending 59 O.S. 2021, Section 1000.2, as last

8   amended by Section 121, Chapter 452, O.S.L. 2024 (59

8   O.S. Supp. 2025, Section 1000.2), which relates to

9   the Construction Industries Board; extending sunset

9   date; updating statutory language; providing an

10  effective date; and declaring an emergency.

13 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

14  SECTION 1.      AMENDATORY  59 O.S. 2021, Section 1000.2, as

14

15 last amended by Section 121, Chapter 452, O.S.L. 2024 (59 O.S. Supp.
15

16 2025, Section 1000.2), is amended to read as follows:
16

17  Section 1000.2. A. The Construction Industries Board is hereby

17

18 re-created to continue until July 1, 2026 July 1, 2036, in
18

19 accordance with the provisions of the Oklahoma Sunset Law. The
19

20 Board shall regulate the plumbing, electrical, and mechanical
20

21 trades, the building and construction inspectors, the home
21

22 inspectors, and the roofing contractors through the powers and
22

23 duties set forth in the Construction Industries Board Act and in the
23

1 respective licensing or registration acts for such trades, or as

2 otherwise provided by law.

3   B. 1. Beginning July 1, 2013, the Board shall be composed of

3

4 seven (7) members appointed by the Governor with the advice and
4

5 consent of the Oklahoma State Senate, as follows:
5

6   a. two members shall have at least ten (10) years'

6

7                  experience in the plumbing trade, of which one shall

7

8                  be a plumbing contractor and one shall be a journeyman

8

9                  plumber,

9

10  b. two members shall have at least ten (10) years'

10

11                 experience in the electrical trade, of which one shall

11

12                 be an electrical contractor and one shall be a

12

13                 journeyman electrician,

13

14  c. two members shall have at least ten (10) years'

14

15                 experience in the mechanical trade, of which one shall

15

16                 be a mechanical contractor and one shall be a

16

17                 mechanical journeyman, and

17

18  d. one member shall have at least ten (10) years'

18

19                 experience as a building and construction inspector.

19

20  2. Members shall be appointed for staggered terms of four (4)

20

21 years, as designated by the Governor. Members shall continue in
21

22 office until a successor is appointed by the Governor. The Governor
22

23 shall fill all vacancies and unexpired terms in the same manner as
23

1 the original appointment of the member whose position is to be

2 filled. A member may be removed by the Governor at any time.

3   SECTION 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 2026.

4   SECTION 3. It being immediately necessary for the preservation

4

5 of the public peace, health, or safety, an emergency is hereby
5

6 declared to exist, by reason whereof this act shall take effect and
6

7 be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
