7 An Act relating to Alzheimer's disease and related
7 dementias; creating the Office of Alzheimer's Disease
8 and Related Dementia Service Coordination within the
8 State Department of Health; providing powers and
9 duties; establishing dementia services coordinator
9 position; repealing 63 O.S. 2021, Sections 1-879.2
10 and 1-879.3, which relate to Alzheimer's disease and
10 related dementias; providing for codification; and
11 providing an effective date.

14 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

15 SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
15
16 in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 1-879.5 of Title 63, unless
16
17 there is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:

18 A. There is hereby created within the State Department of
18
19 Health the Office of Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementia
19
20 Service Coordination for the purpose of providing statewide
20
21 coordination, service system development, and information on
21
22 education, support, and other available services for individuals
22
23 with Alzheimer's disease or related dementias and their caregivers.

1 B. The Office of Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementia
1
2 Service Coordination shall have the power and duty to:
2
3 1. Evaluate the coordination of dementia services within this
3
4 state and identify any duplicated services;
4
5 2. Coordinate informational resources affecting individuals
5
6 with Alzheimer's disease or related dementias and their caregivers.
6
7 Such coordination shall include, but not be limited to:
7
8 a. using dementia-related data to coordinate strategies
8
9 designed to improve public health outcomes and service
9
10 delivery for individuals with Alzheimer's disease or
10
11 related dementias and their caregivers,
11
12 b. establishing and maintaining relationships with other
12
13 state agencies, providers, organizations, and
13
14 community stakeholders to meet the needs of affected
14
15 populations and prevent the duplication of services,
15
16 c. supporting the provision of dementia-specific staff
16
17 training across all relevant state agencies and
17
18 organizations, and
18
19 d. recommending strategies to improve coordination of
19
20 dementia-related services and resources provided by
20
21 public and private entities;
21
22 3. Streamline all applicable state government services to
22
23 increase efficiency and improve the quality of dementia-related care
23
24 in residential, home-based, and community-based settings;

1 4. Identify grant opportunities to expand the scope of services

2 for individuals with Alzheimer's disease or related dementias and
2
3 their caregivers and apply for the grant opportunities;
3
4 5. Perform other duties relevant to supporting policy
4
5 development and implementation to enhance the quality of life for
5
6 individuals with Alzheimer's disease or related dementias and their
6
7 caregivers;
7
8 6. Promote public and professional awareness and education
8
9 related to Alzheimer's disease and related dementias and access to
9
10 needed services and programs; and
10
11 7. Collect and monitor data concerning the impact of
11
12 Alzheimer's disease and related dementias in this state.

13 C. The Office of Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementia
13
14 Service Coordination shall maintain on staff at least one dementia
14
15 services coordinator. The dementia services coordinator shall be a
15
16 full-time, permanent employee and shall be responsible for the
16
17 staffing and operational details of the Office.

18 SECTION 2. REPEALER 63 O.S. 2021, Sections 1-879.2 and
18
19 1-879.3, are hereby repealed.

20 SECTION 3. This act shall become effective November 1, 2026.
