7 An Act relating to public health; mandating certain
7 pediatric screenings for type 1 diabetes; providing
8 for certain reimbursement; directing the State
8 Department of Health to seek certain funding;
9 directing promulgation of rules; providing for
9 codification; and providing an effective date.

12 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

13 SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
13
14 in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 1-581 of Title 63, unless there
14
15 is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
15
16 A. Every child in this state shall be screened by his or her
16
17 primary health care provider for type 1 diabetes during one routine
17
18 visit when the child is five (5) years of age and during one routine
18
19 visit when the child is twelve (12) years of age. The provider
19
20 shall administer such screening in accordance with accepted medical
20
21 practices and rules promulgated by the State Commissioner of Health.

22 B. The screenings described in subsection A of this section
22
23 shall be reimbursable under the state Medicaid program, subject to
23
24 receipt of any necessary federal approval.

1 C. The State Department of Health shall seek grants and other

2 funding opportunities to support the provision of pediatric
2
3 screenings for type 1 diabetes as described in subsection A of this
3
4 section.

5 D. 1. The State Commissioner of Health shall promulgate rules
5
6 necessary to implement the provisions of this section.
6
7 2. The Oklahoma Health Care Authority Board shall promulgate
7
8 rules necessary to implement subsection B of this section.

9 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2026.
