6   An Act relating to schools; requiring public school

6   districts to designate an industry day for certain

7   students beginning with certain school year;

7   providing for certain collaboration to provide

8   certain information to certain students; allowing a

8   school district's industry day to include certain

9   information; providing for promulgation of rules;

9   providing for codification; providing an effective

10  date; and declaring an emergency.

12 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

13  SECTION 1.      NEW LAW       A new section of law to be codified

13

14 in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 24-166 of Title 70, unless there
14

15 is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
15

16  A. Beginning with the 2026-2027 school year, each public school

16

17 district in this state shall designate a minimum of one (1) day
17

18 every school year as industry day for students in grades nine
18

19 through twelve to explore career opportunities available at
19

20 industries within this state.
20

21  B. The school district shall collaborate with employers, career

21

22 and technology center schools, and institutions of higher education
22

23 within The Oklahoma State System of Higher Education located in or
23

24 around the school district to provide information to ninth through

1 twelfth grade students about career opportunities available through
1

2 industries in this state and the education and training requirements
2

3 for those careers.

4   C. A school district's industry day may:

4

5   1. Be incorporated as part of the Individual Career and

5

6 Academic Plan (ICAP) process outlined in Section 1210.508-4 of Title
6

7 70 of the Oklahoma Statutes;
7

8   2. Include information about apprenticeship, internship, or

8

9 mentorship programs available pursuant to Section 1210.528-1 of
9

10 Title 70 of the Oklahoma Statutes; and
10

11  3. Be coordinated with the Work-based Learning Program

11

12 established by the Governor's Council for Workforce and Economic
12

13 Development pursuant to Section 5003.10e of Title 74 of the Oklahoma
13

14 Statutes.

15  D. The State Board of Education may promulgate rules to

15

16 implement the provisions of this section.
16

17  SECTION 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 2026.

17

18  SECTION 3. It being immediately necessary for the preservation

18

19 of the public peace, health, or safety, an emergency is hereby
19

20 declared to exist, by reason whereof this act shall take effect and
20

21 be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
