7   An Act relating to torts; prohibiting prosecution for

7   certain acts; clarifying actions deemed reasonable;

8   defining term; providing for codification; and

8   providing an effective date.

11 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

12  SECTION 1.      NEW LAW  A new section of law to be codified

12

13 in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 5.10 of Title 76, unless there
13

14 is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
14

15  A. A person, regardless of official capacity or lack of

15

16 official capacity, who witnesses an act of violent crime being
16

17 committed against another person shall not be subject to prosecution
17

18 for reasonable actions taken to defend the person upon whom the
18

19 violent crime is being committed. Reasonable actions shall include
19

20 actions taken to stop the violent crime from being committed and any
20

21 actions necessary to ensure the safety of the victim until law
21

22 enforcement arrives.

23  B. "Violent crime" shall mean the same as defined by Section

23

24 571 of Title 57 of the Oklahoma Statutes.

1   SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2025.
