7 An Act relating to the Scenic Rivers Act; amending 82
7 O.S. 2021, Section 896.5, which relates to scenic
8 river area designation; providing designation for
8 certain waters; updating statutory language;
9 providing an effective date; and declaring an
9 emergency.

12 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

13 SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 82 O.S. 2021, Section 896.5, is
13
14 amended to read as follows:
14
15 Section 896.5. The Oklahoma Legislature finds that certain
15
16 free-flowing streams and rivers of Oklahoma possess such unique
16
17 natural scenic beauty, water, fish, wildlife, and outdoor
17
18 recreational values of present and future benefit to the people of
18
19 the state that it is the policy of the Legislature to preserve these
19
20 areas for the benefit of the people of Oklahoma. For this purpose,
20
21 the following are hereby designated as scenic rivers:

22 1. The Flint Creek in Delaware County;
22
23 2. The Illinois River in Adair, Delaware and Cherokee Counties
23
24 above its confluence with the Barren Fork Creek;

1 3. The Barren Fork Creek in Adair and Cherokee Counties from

2 the present alignment of U.S. Highway 59 West west to its confluence
2
3 with the Illinois River;

4 4. The Upper Mountain Fork River above the 600-foot six-
4
5 hundred-foot elevation level of Broken Bow Reservoir in McCurtain
5
6 and LeFlore Le Flore Counties;
6
7 5. Big Lee Creek in Sequoyah County, above the 420-foot four-
7
8 hundred-twenty-foot MSL elevation; and
8
9 6. Little Lee Creek in Adair and Sequoyah Counties;
9
10 7. The Glover River in McCurtain County; and
10
11 8. The Kiamichi River in Le Flore, Choctaw, and Pushmataha
11
12 Counties.

13 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 2025.
13
14 SECTION 3. It being immediately necessary for the preservation
14
15 of the public peace, health or safety, an emergency is hereby
15
16 declared to exist, by reason whereof this act shall take effect and
16
17 be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
