7 AS INTRODUCED
8 An Act relating to schools; prohibiting former
district employees from running for or serving on the
9 district board of education if they were terminated
for cause; clarifying applicability; and providing an
10 effective date.

14 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
15 SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
16 in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 5-107.1 of Title 70, unless
17 there is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
18 No person shall be eligible to be a candidate for or serve on a
19 board of education if the person was previously employed by the
20 school district governed by that board of education and was
21 terminated from their position for cause. Nothing in this section
22 shall be construed to prevent members of boards of education who are
23 serving on a board as of the effective date of this act from serving
24 the full term for which they were elected.

1 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2026.
