7   An Act relating to rural health; amending 63 O.S.

    2021, Section 1-2723, as amended by Section 5,

8   Chapter 407, O.S.L. 2022 (63 O.S. Supp. 2025, Section

    1-2723), which relates to the Health Care Workforce

9   Training Commission; removing the option to utilize

    excess funding; and providing an effective date.

13 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

14  SECTION 1.      AMENDATORY  63 O.S. 2021, Section 1-2723, as

15 amended by Section 5, Chapter 407, O.S.L. 2022 (63 O.S. Supp. 2025,

16 Section 1-2723), is amended to read as follows:

17  Section 1-2723. A. The Health Care Workforce Training

18 Commission shall have the option of utilizing utilize available

19 funding in excess of the amount necessary to fund the Oklahoma

20 Medical Loan Repayment Program described in Section 1-2721 of this

21 title to fund new or expanded primary care residency programs in

22 rural and underserved areas of the state. Such new or expanded

23 primary care residency program funding shall include but not be

24 limited to:

1   1. Payments to hospitals or teaching health centers desiring to

2 establish new primary care residency programs. Such payments shall

3 be made to cover the costs of salaries, benefits and educational

4 costs of residents in training at the facility; or

5   2. Payments to hospitals or teaching health centers with

6 existing primary residency programs desiring to expand the number of

7 residents participating in those programs. Such payments shall be

8 made to cover the costs of salaries, benefits and educational costs

9 of residents in training at the facility.

10  B. Provisions of this section shall be subject to the

11 promulgated rules of the Commission.

12  SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2026.
